Organized in 1986, the Cars of Palestine provides an opportunity for local car enthusiasts to meet, socialize and maintain the spirit of good fellowship. It also encourages the use of these special interest autos in activities which promote our city.  Car ownership is not a requirement for membership.

Cars of Palestine, Inc. is a family-oriented, non-profit organization that participates in local parades several times each year, travels to other communities for parades and shows, hosts other car clubs in our state and gives assistance to members and non-members alike in finding parts - and sometimes that special auto in someone's memory. The Cars of Palestine is a member of the Texas Vehicle Club Council and the Palestine Chamber of Commerce.

Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month. Social time and dinner begins at 6:30pm and the meeting begins promptly at 7:30pm at Ryan's Steakhouse - On the Loop.

On a community service level, Cars of Palestine awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors within Anderson County. We now offer sustaining scholarships to past recipients who continue their education. It has been a pleasure to sponsor one of our members, Marian Raney in her efforts to raise monies for Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society's annual fundraiser. Marian has been the number one individual fundraiser for the past two years. Participation in local toy and food drives is an annual project.

In 2008, Cars of Palestine will host the 23rd Annual Dogwood Trails Car Show on March 22nd in conjunction with the opening weekend of Palestine's Annual Dogwood Trails festival. Pre-registration for the car show is open and you can find the registration form on this web site. Click on for the registration flyer and form. Pre-registration ends March 11th. Awards will be presented in 17 classes along with the award for Best of Show, Peoples's Choice Award and the prestigious Jay Norris Award. Jay Norris, a charter member of Cars of Palestine best represented what a restorer of automobiles should be. A special award will be given to the registrant whose vehicle best represents its classic status.

Members of the Cars of Palestine are an enthusiastic group, willing to take their special autos to activities where they can provide to other people the joy and fun involved in showing these autos. We have taken our autos to the Sterling House in Palestine for the residents to see, parked our special cars at the Texas State Railroad Park for a special treat to those riding the rails, and participated in parades locally and in Nacogdoches, as well as participating in several area car shows and parades throughout the region. As proud as we are of our special autos, it is hard to say who gets more pleasure from our activities - the public or ourselves.
